NZ 599732 Disclosed is a solid sweetening composition consisting of erythritol and a secondary sweetener in a single solid matrix, wherein the solid sweetening composition is made by a process comprising the steps of: heating the erythritol, wherein only enough heat is provided to melt a portion of the elythritol mixing the secondary sweetener into the partially melted erythritol to obtain a mixture cooling the mixture until the mixture is solid and grinding the solid mixture to desired particle size, wherein the erythritol is at least about 50% by weight of the composition. Also disclosed is a slurry consisting of partially melted erythritol, and a secondary sweetener.
