< PROBLEM > The force required for the return operation of the drag switching mechanism can be made as small as possible.< Solution > The spin switching device 9 of the spinning reel is provided with a return mechanism 70. The return mechanism 70 has a first arm portion 82, a cam gear 20, and a pushing member 83 that pivotally move in conjunction with the slide changeover lever 68. The return mechanism 70 presses the first arm portion 82 in conjunction with the rotation of the handle 1 in the line winding direction to return the slide switch lever 68 from the release position to the lock position. The cam gear 20 is separated from the fishing rod mounting portion more than the face gear shaft 11a and is disposed behind the face gear shaft 11a. The cam gear 20 is transmitted with rotational force from the drive gear 14 which rotates integrally with the face gear shaft 11a.
