Provided is a balloon catheter which does not block blood flow even when a balloon is expanded and which allows selection of a position, in the circumferential direction of a blood vessel wall, with which a blade is to be brought into contact. A balloon catheter 1 has a balloon 11 at a distal end section of a long shaft 10, and has a handle 12 at a proximal end section of the shaft 10, wherein: the balloon 11 has a wire 13 along the axial direction of the outer surface, and a blade 31 arranged at a position that is different, in the circumferential direction, from the position of the wire 13； the proximal end side of the wire 13 extends along the shaft 10 to the handle 12； and the handle 12 has an operation part 43 that pulls the wire 13 so as to curve the balloon 11, thereby causing the blade 31 to be exposed.L'invention concerne une sonde à ballonnet qui ne bloque pas le flux sanguin même lorsqu'il est dilaté.
