The round baling press which has at least one side wall which consists of a front fixed section and a rear section (64) which is pivotable on the end face of the pressing chamber, has the fixed and pivotable sections interconnected by a joint (66), wherein the joint axis is located in the region of the front fixed section. From the joint axis to the middle point of the pressing chamber a distance of between 100 and 1500 mm is taken up. The joint has a connecting piece with hook elements (74) which are accommodated in openings (70) in especially a holder (68).
