PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating vegetables and fruits, suppressing powdery mildew by radiating a prescribed amount of infrared light to the vegetables and fruits without using an agrochemical agent.SOLUTION: Infrared light is near infrared light, and is provided with that its irradiation intensity is ≥59 μW/cm2 per the surface of the vegetables and fruits, the central wavelength as the near infrared light is in the neighborhood of 740 nm and its irradiating time is desirably all day long, that is, continuous irradiation for 24 h.
