According to the present invention, in accordance with the determined salinity and an operation mode that is a storage mode or a ripening mode of the storage chamber, an operating temperature of the refrigerator for kimchi can be determined. According to the present invention, when kimchi is stored in the storage chamber, an operating temperature of the storage chamber is controlled by applying actual salinity of the stored kimchi to ripen the kimchi so as to provide an optimal flavor.
