PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable anyone to estimate the amount of an organic component almost the same as the amount of the organic component in soil without requiring experience or skill. SOLUTION: This estimation device is equipped with a container 10 for housing a predetermined amount of soil 11, an imaging part 20 for imaging the surface of the soil 11 housed in the container 10 and a calculation part 30. The calculation part 30 is constituted so as not only to detect the surface brightness of the soil 11 on the basis of the image taken by the imaging part 20 but also to calculate the amount of the organic component in the soil 11 on the basis of the detected brightness.
