A method for producing particles of predetermined sized and/or morphology of asubstance in a production arrangementcomprising the steps of: i) mixing within a spray nozzle and under flowconditions a stream of a liquid solution in which thesubstance is dissolved with a stream of a fluid, and ii) passing the mixturein the form of a spray through a spray outlet of the nozzleinto a particle collecting container, and iii) separating and collectingwithin the container the particles. The characteristic feature isthat the solvent is a liquid and the fluid is an aqueous liquid in asubcritical state. Preferred nozzles have two coaxial internaltransport conduits. One aspect is a production arrangement that can be used inthe method. Its characteristic features are functions for a)recycling fluid used in the process, b) for including a make-up agent in thefluid stream, and/or increasing production by parallelingparticle formation.
