PURPOSE: A composition containing a DSX extract for preventing and treating osteoporosis is provided to be used in a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating osteoporosis by identifying increase of osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating osteoporosis and promoting growth contains a crude drug extract as an active ingredient, including Angelicae gigantis radix, Houttuynia cordata, Bupleurum falcatum, Paeoniae radix alba, Atractylodis Rhizoma alba, Poria cocos wolf, Moutan cortex radicis, Gardeniae fructus, Glycyrrhizae radix, Menthae herba, and Zingiberis rhizoma recens mixed in a ratio(w/w) of 1-10；1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10:1-10: 1-10:1-10. The extract is prepared using water including purified water, C1-C4 alcohols, or a mixture thereof. The composition contains 0.1-50 wt% of the crude drug extract.본 발명은 DSX의 추출물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 골다공증의 예방 및 치료를 위한 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 DSX 추출물은 골세포의 분열능, 알칼리 포스파타아제 (Alkaline phosphatase) 활성, 콜라겐 합성 측정을 통해 골형성 증가 활성이 탁월함을 확인함으로써, 골다공증의 예방 및 치료용 약학조성물에 이용될 수 있다.
