PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbable resin and an absorbable composition having the ability to absorb an aqueous liquid in a pressurized condition by having a plant-derived raw material used, having the ability to absorb the aqueous liquid and having good gel elasticity.SOLUTION: The absorbable resin is made by combining a polysaccharide oxide (A1) having a carboxyl group which may be neutralized by a neutralizer and/or its bridging component (A2), a poly(meth)acrylic acid (B1) in which at least one carboxyl group may be neutralized by a neutralizer and/or its bridging component (B2) or the absorbable composition is made by mixing the (A1) and/or the (A2) and the (B1) and/or the (B2). The weight average molecular weight of the (A1) is 2,000 to 10,000,000 and the acid value of the (A1) is 65 to 850 mgKOH/g.
