An immunogenic oil-in-water cationic emulsion comprising emulsion particles containing an oil core and a cationic lipid, and a nucleic acid molecule complexing with emulsion particles, where the average diameter of the emulsion particles is from about 80 nm to 180 nm, and the ratio N / P in this emulsion is at least 4: 1, provided that said nucleic acid molecule does not encode secreted alkaline phosphatase, and provided that said nucleic acid molecule is not a molecule loi RNA encoded by plasmid A317, the sequence of which is shown in Figure 7A U.S. Patent Application № 61 / 361892.2. An immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said nucleic acid molecule encodes an antigen. An immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said nucleic acid molecule is RNA. 4. An immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion according to claim 3, wherein said RNA is autoreplicating RNA. 5. The immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion according to claim 1, wherein said immunogenic cationic oil-in-water emulsion is buffered and has a pH of from about 6.0 to about 8.6. The immunogenic oil-in-water cationic emulsion according to claim 5, wherein said oil-in-water immunogenic cationic emulsion comprises a buffer selected from the group consisting of citrate buffer, succinate buffer, acetate buffer, and combinations thereof.
