The invention refers to a variety of marigold (Tagetes patula L.), named Tages, obtained through the individual selection on autogamous biologic material, having as a basis, as initial material, the "Chiajna" local population recommended for cultivation as a medicinal and ornamental plant in all areas in which this plant is cultivated in this country. The Tages variety is characterised through uniform and compact shrubs with a height of 35 ... 50 cm. The inflorescences build a single level of ligulated flowers, with a diameter of 5-7 cm. The variety is semi-precocious, with a good resistance to draught. It obtains a content of helenine of 0.367 ... 0.383 g percent. On average 3655 ... 3915 kg/ha fresh inflorescences and 786 ... 1267 kg/ha dry ligulae can be produced. The variety multiplies through seeds.
