A feed movement for the milling wheel (41) in a first stage is vertical (A), in a second stage is combined horizontal and vertical (B), and in a third stage is vertical (C) again. A milling unit (3) incorporates the rotary driven milling wheel (41) and has a support unit (2). The milling wheel with its drive are supported by a telescopic arm (32) which is articulately connected with a fixed part (30), and a manoeuvring unit (51) functions between the fixed part and the telescopic arm to impart a feed movement to the milling wheel. The fixed part (30) is laterally articulately suspended from the support unit (2) and spring units (15) work between the support unit and the milling unit.
