PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weeding device capable of gripping a weed with smaller force and pulling up the weed together with the roots withtout breaking the stalk of the weed to the extent possible.SOLUTION: The weeding device includes an extended rod 2, an openable member 41 attached to a lower end of the rod 2 and including an upper plate 42u and a lower plate 42d openable in a tapered shape toward the horizontal direction of the ground, a plate-shaped insertion member 5 inserted between an opening 43 of the openable member 41 with a prescribed gap, and an operation mechanism 7 including an arm 6, a handle 31, or the like for inserting and extracting the insertion member 5 into and out of the opening 43 of the openable member 41.
