Seal 224 (500, figure 23A) for connection between a toilet lid or seat and a toilet pan, the seal comprising an elongate ring-like member having a cross section comprising a flexible flange member 237 extending from a rigid base member 235. The base and flange members contain different materials. The flexible flange may be arranged to extend downwards and inwardly from the base member, the flexible flange connected to the base member at the outer peripheral edge of the base member. The base member may be flat and horizontal and the flange is arranged to be compressed between the base member and a retaining slot of a toilet lid. Also disclosed is A seal, for connecting to the underside of a toilet lid or seat for sealing the same to a toilet seat or pan respectively, the seal comprising an elongate ring-like member and including at least one buffer integrally formed therewith or connected thereto.
