PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing synthetic stevensite of high added value using fired rice husk ash as part of beneficial use of rice husk, and to provide a clay film excellent in transparency or the like, obtainable from the synthetic stevensite. SOLUTION: This method for producing synthetic stevensite comprises: a first step of mixing an aqueous magnesium compound solution to rice husk ash, adding an alkali to the mixture so as to make pH of the mixture to about 13.0, and aging the mixture for 24 hours or more; a second step of subjecting the mixture to hydrothermal reaction at temperatures of 100-300°C, and drying the product to obtain synthetic clay; a third step of washing the synthetic clay, drying the supernatant liquid and removing water content to obtain refined synthetic clay; and a fourth step of exchanging interlaminar ions of the refined synthetic clay into lithium (Li) ions. The clay film is obtained by forming the synthetic clay into a film shape to obtain a synthetic clay film, and heat-treating the synthetic clay film.
