PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly palatable colon cleansing formulation that utilizes a low chloride electrolyte-replenishing base solution.SOLUTION: The colon cleansing formulation comprises polyethylene glycol and a sugar alcohol selected from erythritol, ribitol and arabitol, and mixtures thereof； and offers the advantages of superior palatability without undesirable concomitant side effects or a decrease in cleansing efficacy.
