The present invention relates to a hair dye composition which consists of a dye extracted or derived from a plant, and cysteine or a hydrochloride thereof. The problem with conventional natural hair dye compositions which are plant-based dyes containing metal salts is that the dyeing time is a tedious 40 minutes or more.
