Provided is a method for simulation of a viscoelastic material which, when calculating with a computer the mechanical deformation of a viscoelastic material such as rubber, causes the computer to create a model in which a first network element in which the mechanical deformation is represented with a nonlinear elasticity characteristic is connected in parallel with second network elements in which viscoelasticity characteristics of the mechanical deformation are represented using viscoelasticity parameters and in which the viscoelasticity characteristics change according to the size of the mechanical deformation. Thereafter, using the model, the computer is made to compute a physical quantity which represents the mechanical deformation of the viscoelastic material. The second network elements comprise a switching function which sets the values of the viscoelasticity parameters according to the mechanical deformation.
