The present invention is a method of producing a lanthanum carbonate hydroxide or lanthanum oxycarbonate which has improved properties. The method involves the use of a water soluble lanthanum and a water soluble non-alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate. The resulting material can be used as a phosphate binder individually or for treating patients with hyperphosphatemia.La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de production d'un hydroxyde de carbonate de lanthane ou d'un oxycarbonate de lanthane qui possède des propriétés améliorées. Le procédé implique l'utilisation d'un lanthane hydrosoluble et d'un carbonate ou d'un bicarbonate de métal non alcalin hydrosoluble. La matière résultante peut être utilisée en tant que liant phosphate individuellement ou pour le traitement de patients atteints d'hyperphosphatémie.
