PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method for a skin barrier function improving agent lowered by stress and a more effective skin barrier function improving agent. SOLUTION: This is a method of screening a rough skin improving agent by using cultured epidermal cells and using the expression level of an epidermal cell differentiation-related protein or a gene encoding the same, which is reduced by the addition of enkephalin, as an index. Furthermore, it is a method of screening a rough skin improving agent by using a three-dimensional skin model and using the skin barrier function lowered by the addition of enkephalin as an index.
