PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper having fastening tapes with improved fastening performance.SOLUTION: A disposable diaper 100 includes a vertical direction X corresponding to a back and forth direction of a wearer and a lateral direction Y orthogonal to the same. Fastening tapes 7 are provided for both side parts of a back side part B and, an outer surface on an abdominal side part A is provided with fastened areas 80 with which the fastening tapes 7 are fastened. The fastening tapes 7 have fastening parts 70 provided with a plurality of engaging projections 76, and the engaging projections 76 have cap parts 40 and shaft parts 30 engaging fastened areas. The cap part 40 has an upper extension part 41 extending above the shaft part 30 when worn； and a lateral direction extension part 42 extending in the lateral direction Y from both sides of the shaft part 30.
