PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air purifier capable of changing the ion supply amount without impairing the supply efficiency of purified air to the inside of a room； and to provide a method for using the air purifier.SOLUTION: The air purifier includes: a purified air blowing unit for purifying air taken in from the outside and then blowing the air to the outside； and an ion blowing unit having an ion generator 22 and blowing ions generated by the ion generator 22 to the outside together with air taken in from the outside. The directions in which the ion blowing unit and the purified air blowing unit blow are different from each other, i.e. the ion blowing unit blowing forwards and the purified air blowing unit blow blowing upwards.
