PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod body for fishing rods, even if a worker has a low level of skill, being easily produced, and to provide a fishing rod using the rod body.SOLUTION: The rod body for fishing rods includes a body layer formed from a prepreg into a cylindrical shape, and the body layer has a sudden enlargement part, the inside and outside diameters of which are enlarged backward at a gradient steeper than the gradient of parts in front/back thereof. The body layer comprises two front/back cylindrical parts that are integrally heat-calcined, one cylindrical part of the two font/rear cylindrical parts is a small-change cylindrical part whose diameter change is relatively small, and the other cylindrical part is a large-change cylindrical part whose diameter change is relatively large.
