PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod body for a fishing rod, simply producible by a worker even with a low level of skill, and a fishing rod using the same.SOLUTION: A rod body for a fishing rod includes a body layer which is formed in a cylindrical shape from prepregs 71a, 71b, and 71c, and which includes a suddenly-enlarged diameter part whose inclination is sharper than those of front and back areas and which is enlarged in both inner and outer diameters toward the back side.
