PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of performing printing and inspecting in the same procedure as a case of printing a normal image on the surface of a granular material without the need to prepare the granular material printed with a defective image in advance regarding the validation of an inspection function.SOLUTION: A printer includes a head control unit 72 and an inspection unit 73. The head control unit 72 includes a first storage section 721 which stores a normal image and a second storage section 722 which stores a defective image. The head control unit 72 selectively reads the images out from the first storage section 721 and the second storage section 722 and controls a head. The printer prints the defective image on the surface of the granular material first when performing the validation, next, photographs the granular material after printing, and then, detects the defect in the image printed on the surface of the granular material by comparing an inspection image generated based on the normal image and the photographed image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT【課題】検査機能のバリデーションに関して、予め欠陥画像が印刷された粒状物を用意しておく必要がなく、かつ、粒状物の表面に正常画像を印刷する場合と同一の手順で、印刷および検査を行うことができる技術を提供する。【解決手段】この印刷装置は、ヘッド制御部72と検査部73とを有する。ヘッド制御部72は、正常画像を記憶する第1記憶部721と、欠陥画像を記憶する第2記憶部722とを有する。ヘッド制御部72は、第1記憶部721および第2記憶部722から、選択的に画像を読み出して、ヘッドを制御する。バリデーションを行うときには、まず、粒状物の表面に欠陥画像を印刷する。次に、印刷後の粒状物を撮影する。その後、正常画像に基づいて生成された検査画像と、撮影画像とを比較することによって、粒状物の表面に印刷された画像の欠陥を検出する。【選択図】図5
