A composition comprising fat containing 20-100 wt.% Wax esters, preferably 40-85 wt.% Wax esters, wherein said wax esters consist of monoesters, predominantly monounsaturated or polyunsaturated C16-C22 fatty acids and predominantly monounsaturated C16- C22 fatty alcohols, for use as a medicament for the prevention or treatment of abdominal obesity and type 2 diabetes. 2.
