The invention relates to a method for determining the means of a visual aid following the behavior of an individual during a specific reading phase. The main characteristic of a method according to the invention is that it comprises the following steps, - a step of submitting to the individual a specific test for reading a medium comprising a text comprising a succession of common words and in which defects have been introduced between said words at predetermined locations, - a step of reading the said text out of the text by the individual, - a step of assigning an optical indicator related to the reading errors identified and allowing characterize the quality of the reading； a step of selecting the most appropriate visual aid means as a function of the determined optical indicator. L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de détermination de moyens d'une aide visuelle suite au comportement d'un individu lors d'une phase de lecture spécifique. La principale caractéristique d'un procédé selon l'invention est qu'il comprend les étapes suivantes, - une étape de soumission à l'individu d'un test spécifique de lecture d'un support comportant un texte comprenant une succession de mots usuels et dans lesquelles ont été introduits des défauts entre lesdits mots à des emplacements prédéterminés, - une étape de lecture à voix haute dudit texte par l'individu, - une étape d'attribution d'un indicateur optique lié aux erreurs de lecture relevées et permettant de caractériser la qualité de la lecture, - une étape de sélection des moyens d'aide visuelle les plus appropriés en fonction de l'indicateur optique déterminé.
