La principale caractéristique d'un procédé selon l'invention est qu'il comprend les étapes suivantes, une étape de soumission à l'individu d'un test spécifique de lecture d'un support comportant un texte comprenant une succession de mots usuels et dans lesquelles ont été introduits des défauts entre lesdits mots à des emplacements prédéterminés, une étape de lecture à voix haute dudit texte par l'individu, une étape d'attribution d'un indicateur optique lié aux erreurs de lecture relevées et permettant de caractériser la qualité de la lecture, une étape de sélection des moyens d'aide visuelle les plus appropriés en fonction de l'indicateur optique déterminé.
