A mechanical semi-automatic hand drop device, for use in the process of hypnotic induction, comprises a hinged ferrous steel hand plate with an electromagnetic catch, the catch automatically releasing the plate from a horizontal position into a dropped vertical position when a user/patient presses their hand down upon it. The electromagnet is wired to a foot control pedal which acts as a solenoid to activate the magnet and release it from its closed position to an open position, dropping the plate from its horizontal position to vertical position. The plate is hingedly fixed to a support structure (comprising a support arm and leg plate) which may be adjusted in height.
