The invention refers to an apparatus and to a method for forming a cylindrical bale in a bale forming chamber. An endless pressing means (7) partially surrounds the bale forming chamber. A first tensioning member (13, 14, 16.1, 16.2) and a second tensioning member (17, 18) together tension the pressing means (7) by means of at least two guiding elements (16.1, 16.2, 18). A tensioning actuator (10) is biased to pivot the second tensioning member (17, 18) away from the first tensioning member (13, 14, 16.1, 16.2).Cette invention concerne un appareil et un procédé de formation d'une balle cylindrique dans une chambre de bottelage. Des moyens de pression (7) sans fin entourent partiellement la chambre de bottelage. Un premier élément de tension (13, 14, 16.1, 16.2) et un second élément de tension (17, 18) tendent ensemble les moyens de pression (7) au moyen d'au moins deux éléments de guidage (16.1, 16.2, 18). Un actionneur de tension (10) est sollicité pour faire pivoter le second élément de tension (17, 18) à l'opposé du premier élément de tension (13, 14, 16.1, 16.2).
