PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel to be operated for adjusting the braking force of a spool without preventing a fisherman from holding the reel, hardly causing false operation, and allowing the fisherman to easily make a series of motions including operation and visual recognition.SOLUTION: In the fishing reel 10, a braking device 54 adjusting the rotation braking force of the spool 20 is disposed between a side frame 14b and a side plate 16b on the side opposite from a handle 30. The braking device includes a plurality of operation parts 124 and 184 to be operated for adjusting the rotation braking force of the spool and a plurality of visual recognition parts 142a and 184f for visually recognizing the adjusted state of the operation parts between the side frame 14b and the side plate 16b. The side plate 16b has windows 212 and 214 on the outer surface OS, so that the fisherman can visually recognize the plurality of visual recognition parts through the windows from outside of the side plate 16b.
