PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new compound having a plant growth-regulating action.SOLUTION: There are provided new 3-(3-tertiary amyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid, new 3-tertiary amyl-4-hydroxycinnamic acid, new 3-(3-isopropyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid, and new 3-isopropyl-4-hydroxycinnamic acid. At least one selected from the group consisting of the new compounds is used for regulating the growth of plants.
