The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a character mask using a water soluble dye, and to a character mask manufactured thereby. The method for manufacturing a character mask: uses a vegetable printing dye, and thus has no risk of generating harmful substances, such as heavy metal, etc., when manufacturing the character mask and uses a worktable including a grid, and thus maximizes efficiency of a manufacturing process. The method for manufacturing a character mask using a water soluble dye of the present invention comprises the following steps: applying an adhesive to a grid printing a character on a mask fabric using a water soluble dye fixing the printed mask fabric to a worktable to which a grid is mounted heat treating the mask fabric fixed to the worktable at high temperatures and ironing the entire fabric after the heat treatment.
