PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image supporting the positioning operation of an endoscope since the visual field range of a conventional endoscopic image is small, so that there is a desire to see peripheral tissues and since when generating a synthetic image by synthesizing the endoscopic image and an ultrasonic image, it is desired to position both of the images by a simple constitution.

SOLUTION: A medical image processing system is composed of an ultrasonograph 10 and an endoscopic apparatus 12. The endoscopic apparatus 12 forms the endoscopic image as a conventional one. The ultrasonograph 10 obtains volume data and identifies a plurality of high luminance points included in the data. The high luminance points express a plurality of spheres of reflection provided at the distal end of the endoscope 42. Since the three-dimensional position of the distal end can be identified from the high luminance points, the ultrasonic image as a projection image is formed from the volume data on the basis of the three-dimensional position. The endoscopic image which expressed a local area is superimposed on the ultrasonic image covering a wide area, and a synthetic image like this is displayed.
