PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aldehyde adsorbent which has high removal effect of aldehyde in the air and which can keep the effect for a long period of time.SOLUTION: The aldehyde adsorbent is obtained by incorporating an aqueous solution of cysteines, the pH of which solution is adjusted to 2-7 by a pH adjuster, in a porous substance or the like. The pH adjuster is preferably phosphoric acids. Moisture content of the aldehyde adsorbent is preferably &ge0.5 mass%.
