594377 A milking arrangement for animals (1) comprises a rotary platform (2), a driving mechanism (12) adapted to provide a rotary motion to the rotary platform, milking stalls (3) and a blocking system. The blocking system comprises a movable blocking member (20) for temporarily blocking animal access to predetermined milking stalls, and a control unit (11). The control unit determines, based on an estimated number of animals to enter the platform at a future time, the capacity of animals to be allowed to enter on to the platform into a predetermined selection of stalls at that time. The control unit subsequently controls the motion of the blocking member to temporarily block animal entry to the predetermined milking stalls. This provides the advantage of limiting animals to only a selected number of stalls, particularly during periods of low animal visiting frequencies, so that only the used stalls will require cleaning.
