PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly and accurately correct sensitivity even if data sizes of sensitivity distribution data and image data are different.
SOLUTION: This magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is provided with a measurement control means having a first RF receiving coil and a second RF receiving coil and measuring echo signals from a subject, an arithmetic processing means acquiring a diagnostic image of the subject from the echo signal received by the second RF receiving coil, wherein the arithmetic processing means opbtains the sensitivity distribution of the second RF receiving coil using the sensitivity image of the two RF receiving coils and executes a sensitivity correcting operation for correcting the luminance distribution of the diagnostic image using the sensitivity distribution, the measurement control means measures the echo signals for sensitivity image of the two RF receiving coil so that the sensitivity image of the two RF receiving coils becomes smaller than the image size of the diagnostic image, and the arithmetic processing means performs the sensitivity correcting operation by expanding the image size of the sensitivity distribution larger than the image size of the diagnostic image.
