PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method capable of suppressing degradation of resolution when compared with a taken image while performing a magnification process in a first process region, relative to a second process region.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element 240 which contains a plurality of pixels for generating an image signal from a subject image that is focused by an imaging optical system； a magnification process unit 340 which applies a magnification process on an original image consisting of the image signals of the amount of a plurality of pixels； and an output unit 350 which outputs an image after the magnification process as a magnified image. The magnification process unit 340 performs the magnification process at a different magnification rate according to the position of an interested pixel on the magnification image.
