Modified viral genomes can reduce the induction of inflammatory and immune antiviral responses. This is due to decreased NF-κB activity, increased rate of transfection of the virus, and increased transgene expression. The viral genome is modified by introducing one or more oligonucleotide sequences that are capable of binding to TLR9 but not its activation.
