The invention relates to an antimicrobial peptide for use in a method of preventing or treating fungal nail infection (onychomycosis). The invention further relates to a composition comprising an antimicrobial peptide and a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or excipient, for use in a method of preventing or treating onychomycosis. The invention also relates to a method of treating a patient suffering from onychomycosis, the method comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an antimicrobial peptide thereof to the cuticle of a nail affected by onychomycosis.
