In order to provide a high- strength link chain, the longitudinal limbs (312) on the outer sides (341) comprise at least adjacent to the upper and lower sides a spherical shaped surface and/or the horizontal chain links (310) comprise on the transition of the front sections (311) into the longitudinal limbs (312) corner areas (345), wherein the longitudinal limbs (312) on their top side und bottom side at least in the corner areas (345) are partially provided with a cavity (360).
