A method of making an antimicrobial composite article, including the steps: providing a matrix comprising a polymeric material； providing a plurality of second phase particles comprising an antimicrobial agent； melting the matrix to form a matrix melt； distributing the plurality of second phase particles in the matrix melt at a second phase volume fraction to form a composite melt； forming a composite article from the composite melt； and treating the composite article to form an antimicrobial composite article having an exterior surface comprising an exposed portion of the matrix and the plurality of second phase particles. The distributing step can employ an extrusion process. The forming a composite article step can employ an injection molding process. The treating step can employ abrading and plasma-treating the article to define the exterior surface.L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un article composite du type antimicrobien, comprenant les étapes consistant à : mettre en œuvre une matrice comprenant un matériau polymère ； mettre en œuvre une pluralité de particules de deuxième phase comportant un agent antimicrobien ； faire fondre la matrice pour former un bain de fusion de matrice ； distribuer la pluralité de particules de deuxième phase dans le bain de fusion de matrice selon une fraction volumique de deuxième phase pour former un bain de fusion de composite ； former un article composite à partir du bain de fusion de composite ； et traiter l'article composite pour former un article composite du type antimicrobien ayant une surface extérieure comportant une partie exposée de la matrice et la pluralité de particules de deuxième phase. L'étape de distribution peut utiliser un processus d'extrusion. L'étape de formation d'un article composite peut utiliser un processus de moulage par injection. L'étape de traitement peut effectuer une opération d'abrasion et une opération de traitement au plasma sur l'article pour définir la surface extérieure.
