To provide an antenna having excellent radiation efficiency and improved operability and solving the problem of an umbrella rib-type antenna which has good radiation efficiency of RF waves but is poor in operability.
SOLUTION: An RF irradiation element has a puncture needle 1 and the antenna 4. The puncture needle 1 has a hollow space for storing the antenna 4. The puncture needle 1 has an operating section ON the outside to move the antenna 4 in the forward and backward direction. The antenna 4 is made of an antenna body 4b and a stick section 4a connected to the antenna body. The antenna body 4b acts as an antenna radiating RF wave. The antenna 4 projects outward from a distal opening 6 of the puncture needle 1 by an operating section arranged ON a support section and irradiates RF wave to cover a lesion A for treatment. The antenna body 4b extends radially and its distal ends bend inward slightly so as to improve the radiation efficiency of RF wave. The structure the antenna body 4b curving inward enables easy storage within the hollow space via the distal opening 6.
