PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus and a focus control method, etc. capable of switching from AF control to MF control by deciding that the AF control is not appropriately operated.SOLUTION: An endoscope apparatus includes a focus driving part for switching a focused object position, a position of a subject to be focused by an imaging part, to a plurality of separately located positions and driving the imaging part a feature quantities extraction part 304 for extracting feature quantities from a captured image obtained by the imaging part and a focus switch control part 305 for controlling the switching and driving. The focus switch control part 305 decides whether or not the feature quantities satisfies a prescribed condition. If the focus switch control part 305 decides that the feature quantities satisfy the prescribed condition, AF control for controlling the switching and driving based on the feature quantities are suspended, and MF control for controlling the switching and driving based on operation information from a user is executed.
