The present disclosure relates to a method for suspending particles in alcoholic liquid composition wherein low acyl gellan gum is used and to an alcoholic beverage having such suspended particles. The alcoholic liquid composition prepared by the method comprises low acyl gellan gum in an amount of up to 0.5 g/l; sodium citrate, a sequestrant, in amount of at least equal or higher than 1.5 times the amount of gellan gum; and calcium lactate, a gelling agent, in amount that is lower than the amount of the gellan gum. The method comprises the step of making a pre-gel solution from low acyl gellan gum, sodium citrate, calcium lactate and water before mixing with an alcoholic composition.
