Gastrokine-1 (Gkn-1) is a stomach protein that protects the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and has properties to manipulate smooth muscle contraction, prevent NSAID-induced ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract of a mammal, inhibit growth and survival of cancer cells and induce weight loss in a mammal. Previously this protein was designated AMP-18.L'invention concerne la Gastrokine-1 (Gkn-1) qui est une protéine de l'estomac qui protège le tractus gastro-intestinal (GI) et a des propriétés pour manipuler la contraction des muscles lisses, prévenir l'ulcération induite par NSAID du tractus gastro-intestinal d'un mammifère, inhiber la croissance et la survie de cellules cancéreuses et induire la perte de poids chez un mammifère. Auparavant cette protéine était appelée AMP-18.
