PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating a disease induced by cathepsin B in mammals.SOLUTION: A compound represented by the formula (I) is useful as a therapeutic agent for treating tumor invasion, metastasis, Alzheimer's disease, arthropathy, inflammatory diseases, for example, chronic and acute pancreatitis, inflammatory airway disease, and bone and joint malfunctions including osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and the like, psoriasis, and other autoimmune diseases, hepatic fibrosis including HCV-related hepatic fibrosis, all types of steatosis (including non-alcoholic steatohepatitis), and alcohol-related steatohepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and the like.【課題】哺乳類においてカテプシンＢにより誘導される疾患を処置する方法の提供。【解決手段】式（Ｉ）で表される化合物は、腫瘍浸潤、転移、アルツハイマー症、関節症、炎症性疾患、例えば慢性及び急性膵炎、炎症性気道疾患、並びに骨粗鬆症、変形性関節症、関節リウマチ等を含む骨及び関節の機能不全、乾癬、並びに他の自己免疫疾患、ＨＣＶに関連する肝線維症を含む肝線維症、全てのタイプの脂肪変性（非アルコール性脂肪性肝炎を含む）、及びアルコール関連性脂肪性肝炎、非アルコール性脂肪性肝疾患などを処置する治療剤として有用である。【選択図】図１
