A method and system for electronically classifying a pre-processed heart sound signal of a patient as functional (normal) or pathological is provided. The pre-processed patient heart sound signal is segmentised and features are extracted therefrom (104) to build up a feature vector which is representative of the heart sound signal. The feature vector is then fed to a diagnostic decision support network (105) comprising a plurality of artificial neural networks, each relating to a known heart pathology, which is in turn used to conduct the classification.Linvention porte sur un procédé et un système de classification électronique dun signal de bruit de cœur prétraité dun patient en tant que signal fonctionnel (normal) ou pathologique. Le signal de bruit de cœur de patient prétraité est segmenté et des caractéristiques sont extraites de celui-ci (104) pour établir un vecteur de caractéristique qui est représentatif du signal de bruit de cœur. Le vecteur de caractéristique est ensuite fourni à un réseau de support de décision de diagnostic (105) comprenant une pluralité de réseaux neuronaux artificiels, chacun étant lié à une pathologie cardiaque connue, laquelle est utilisée à son tour pour conduire la classification.
