The prevent invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating asthma or inflammatory diseases, comprising a Dendropanax morbifera extract or an active fraction thereof as an active ingredient. More specifically, a Dendropanax morbifera extract or a fraction thereof controls Th2-type immune responses in a mouse asthma model induced by ovalbumin, effectively inhibits the generation of cytokine secreted by the same, and significantly reduces inflammatory responses of lung tissues, the excessive generation of mucus within bronchial tubes, and hypersensitivity of airway, thereby being able to be helpfully used as effectively therapeutic agents in asthma and inflammatory diseases.본 발명은 황칠나무(Dendropanaxmorbifera) 추출물 또는 이의 활성 분획물을 유효성분으로 함유하는 천식 또는 염증성 질환 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 구체적으로 본 발명의 황칠나무 추출물 또는 이의 활성 분획물은 난백알부민(ovalbumin)으로 유발된 마우스 천식모델에서 Th2 타입의 면역반응을 조절하고, 이로 인해 분비되는 사이토카인(cytokine)의 생성을 효과적으로 억제하며, 또한 폐 조직의 염증반응, 기관지 내 점액 과다생성 및 기도과민성을 유의적으로 감소시키므로, 효과적인 천식 및 염증성 질환의 치료제로서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
